7/25 note: am seeing hyde/vamps at the grand regency ballroom in sf tonight. i usually throw my plans on here in case one of you guys want to chill, always more the merrier...  well except i'm leaving for the train station right now lol.

it's been two years since the prelude to this saga, and i must say i'm still bewildered at the fact za feiru has lingered onward this long. i don't even know what to say anymore except that i think it's time to spread rumors, conspiracy theories, and defamation if she learns and the drama dies bit by bit. go out with a bang, kids, because i don't know what she's doing if she's doing anything at all. does she have a reason to be there anymore? is it all about posting hipster photos on blogs?

some people say she's using amphetamines over there. i totally read it somewhere. others say she skipped out to korea to reset her tourist visa because she can't get anything better.  i've also heard elsewhere she gave up her music "career" upon discovering no one cares.

the above was written is mostly sarcasm, by the way. mostly.

Enemy of my enemy...

Is it just me or does anyone else look at the Applemilk saga and see a wonderful collaboration opportunity with a periodical like "Gaijin Hanzai Underground Files" (I think that's the correct name), or some other anti-gaijin publication?

Perhaps that's too mean and/or counterproductive?

it's not especially mean, at least not something done for the sake of being mean, considering emily is actually a prime candidate for the kind of stereotypical gaijin filth such publications would probably use as an example of their own if they knew about her enough. more than that, i don't think other people, especially young girls coming from a western country, aspire to be like emily nor would see it as an attack on them if they were genuine about their fondness and appreciation for japan and its culture. to date i haven't come across any girl like emily that see her as any sort of positive role model. feed her to the anti-gaijin crowd, emily is their red meat.

it's sort of comparable with people who just go to holland to smoke weed in cafes and be like "lol 420" and those who go there with a vested cultural or educational interest in the place and people.

Money

Ya know, she probably could have saved herself a lot of headaches had she just been upfront for asking for donations in the first place. Like she could have said, "Hey I've been making videos, if you'd like to donate some dough feel free. Maybe I'll take some requests and fit some of your ideas into a video. No guarantees if I get around to it."....something like that. That's what I would have done. Want to see me slap myself in the face with a salmon? Donate a $1. Now keep in mind, fresh whole-salmons are like $15, so don't go thinking I"m gettin a free dollah. Although I'll probably eat it after I smack myself, but that's besides the point....What were we talking about? @~@

Well, first of all, e-begging is pretty pathetic in general. She still would have gotten a lot of shit because she needs to take responsibility and get a real fucking job instead of begging the internet. And second, Emily always wants to look intelligent and fantastic, so of course she needed the reasoning of "University" to have an admirable purpose of the money. Or maybe she just wanted a reason that would get more people to donate more.

Wow, her most recent Ameba entry proves that she thinks it's "かもしらない." That is like some of the most basic Japanese...like you would be able to learn it even if you weren't seriously studying the language because it's used so often. It's funny to see someone make such juvenile mistakes when they've been in Japan off and on for what...almost 2 years now? And were apparently already "fluent" before that.

This is why you don't try to teach yourself languages without some kind of starting point to go on. I know people who have managed to teach themselves languages, but they worked their asses off and got actual input and concrit from NATIVE SPEAKERS.

She has tons of resources right outside her door and she doesn't use them. Instead she watches Haruhi and tries to teach people from it as if she's coming up with actual lesson plans. Guess what Emiri, if people want to watch Haruhi and learn Japanese at the same time, there are things called subtitles and dictionaries. I know it's a novel concept, but I just thought I'd throw that out there.

haha wow, "kamoshirenai" is something you learn in any basic japanese 101 class, along with the proper meanings and usage of things like "deshou", "darou", and fuck, even "yo". i ta'd in a japanese 101 and japanese conversational class so i know this first-hand.

you're correct, even if you teach yourself a language and remark at how fluent and awesome you are, the smart thing to do would be to enroll in a class to formally and properly learn the language from the ground up. even if that's too "low" for someone as awesome as emily is, why can't she take the time to study elementary japanese herself so she doesn't come across so awkwardly? considering emily is making japanese the central tenant of her life and presumably her career (or whatever she calls a career) this should be a no-brainer thing to do.

emily, you bragged too soon about your fluency, and the fact you think you're fluent is making you closed off to the idea that you're still continuously making very basic mistakes that people who've completed one semester of japanese 101 can recognize and correct by themselves. you're not fluent so get fluent. it's not quantum physics, it just takes patience and effort, and probably a lot less for you since you *have been there for way too long* and have daddy pay so you have all the time in the world to do nothing.

Yeah seriously. I think harvestfox pointed out the first time she made the mistake. I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt that maybe it was a typo, but this is the second time she's done it so it's obvious that she doesn't know any better.

I actually started learning Japanese via a language exchange with a penpal, but I did take classes as well. Honestly, there's no better way to learn how to write the language than watching a native write it in front of you. Otherwise your stroke-order is going to be absolute shit, which is going to stagnate your ability to memorize how to write kanji. It's one thing to be able to read it, quite another to write it. If Emily pimps My Japanese Coach, I don't even want to know the horrors of her handwritten Japanese. It's probably still as bad as it was in that "Bonnie Pinkuuu" photo on ED.

Honestly, it's like people have said before, she tries to switch up her Japanese so much, between different dialects and levels of politeness, and using obscure kanji, etc., BECAUSE she never learned it the right way. I used to experiment like that...like...the first year I started learning Japanese and then I wised up. You need to have a good base of the language before you try to find your own voice in it.

It's like drawing. You should practice the basics before you try to find your own style. If you want to be an artist you can't just start by drawing animu or copying from Picasso's works, there has to be structure before substance. If Emily wanted to actually learn Japanese at this point, she'd need to strip herself of everything she incorrectly taught herself and start from the ground up again. Just like they do to you in art school.

Of course, the same could be said about her music career...and her whole life for that matter. Musical ability before starting a band, school before being jobless in Japan. It all follows the same pattern that shows off her obvious lack of work ethic.

Fluency

There are different levels of fluency obviously. You can understand what someone is saying and respond, but still not be an expert in the language. Japanese is just like any other language. English for example. How many people that speak English can actually teach English? You need to take a class or have a private tutor explain how everything works, when to use words, when not too, when are there exceptions, etc. Languages can get quite complicated. If she's serious about making a career for herself over there I would teach basic English. From what I gather there are a tons of opportunities for it even without appropriate qualifications. As long as you have a solid foundation of the language. My half-brother is going over there to attempt it. Although, his degree is in Bio-Engineering or something. lol...I know what you're thinking and I've said the samething to him.

lol i wouldn't worry about your half-brother; having a degree in bioengineering probably allows him to do whatever the hell he wants considering what he has to fall back on.

english is probably the hardest language to learn considering there's not really any uniform rule for anything, the same way turkic languages are adjusted and divided into dialects and local slang. harvestfox and carolyn seemed to learn japanese impressively for not having the obvious advantages emily has, you just have to be studious, patient, and have a general motivation to learn and keep learning. languages are complicated but you learn them, my dad's third language is english for example. it's really just ridiculous that a girl like emily makes elementary mistakes but was saying she was fluent years ago when i assure you she was very much not even close to anything remotely fluent. considering she is surrounded by the language everyday since... what, about two years ago, and would rather flaunt her fluency rather than pay attention in language school that daddy pays this money for is completely ripe and fair to ridicule.

"There are different levels of fluency obviously." It Emily is able to effectively communicate in Japanese, then she has achieved fluency. After all, the point of learning a language is to be able to communicate, not necessarily to be a master of grammar. Making elementary mistakes does not mean that she is not fluent. If that is how fluency is judged, many native English speakers are undeserving of the title.

Small update, she's dropped down another rank in, "Most viewed (All time) - Partners, Japan". She was previously #25, no she's at #26. CWD, Bino, and Mugu, are still all steadily catching up to her regarding top sub rank. I'm honestly surprised she hasn't uploaded a new video yet, I wonder what is taking her so long.

Other than that, only news I have is that TkyoSam is still dropping really fast on the top subscribers list. He's all the way down to #85. Only three days ago he had been at #82. Seems like emiry's dear friend is going to be dropping off the list completely in the near future.

Good for TkyoSam. His latest video depicts some pretty desperate and childish behaviour. It's not just the fact that he's going on that way in Japan.. he'd look like a complete douche no matter where he was. But be that as it may, he's a prime example of why gaijin have a bad rap.
